Ratangad Trek

It was my first trekking experience, but this trek taught me a lot. It was an awesome experience trekking from the base to the top of the mountain and the view, breathtaking….

More than the climb, trekking to the base was more challenging.

Sharing some of the images from the trek…

Ganapati Bappa Morya….

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on a large scale, mostly in Mumbai and Pune. During Ganesh Chaturthi, people welcome Lord Ganesh in their house with festivity and euphoria. Sarvajanik mandal also bring huge Ganesh idols and decorate the pandals with various themes. I have captured through my android phone the favourite god of the masses.

Indian Festivities during the month of October

The month started with Navratri. Navaratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. The word Navaratri means ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and ratri meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Devi are worshipped.

Ghatasthapana is one of the significant rituals during Navratri. It marks the beginning of nine days festivity. Ghatasthapana is being observed by people performing puja and setting up ghata or pot, on which they sow seeds of seven different grains.

Durga Puja festival is celebrated from the sixth day to tenth day. Goddess Durga descends to earth with her four children Lakshmi, Saraswati, Kartikeya and Ganesh. The colorful idols of the goddess that have been handcrafted and installed for the festival are unveiled on this day. Durga Puja festival marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil buffalo demon Mahishasura. Thus, Durga Puja festival epitomises the victory of Good over Evil.

The tenth day is commonly referred to as Vijaydashami or Dussehra.

Dussehra festival is a triumph of good over evil, on this day lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu killed 10-headed demon Ravana and Goddess Durga killed buffalo demon Mahishashur.
